Stan (at left) and Sassy, who are both about 5 years old, grew up together and are practically inseparable. (They were photographed in a cage, but the cage door was open and they have been free to roam in a separate room at the Cats’ Inn in Newbury.) They were recently abandoned when their former owner boarded them but never came back to get them! So, they need a new home. There is a special circumstance, however. Stan has tested “positive” for FIV, an immune deficiency, while Sassy has tested “negative” for that condition. FIV is only contagious to other cats, but in more limited circumstances than many people realize. It’s only transmissible via either sex (and these cats are neutered/spayed) or via deep bite wounds (and these are gentle cats). So, neither Sassy nor any other non-aggressive cats in a household with them would be in danger of
getting FIV from Stan. Both Stan and Sassy are up-to-date on their vaccinations, and they are very friendly. There are a number of Happy Tails Cat Sanctuary cats who reside in other rooms at the mostly cage-less Cats’ Inn, and the sanctuary’s volunteers are trying to help these two nice cats get adopted into a good, loving home.
